3 Ways To Make Your Skin Glow

Having radiant and glowing skin is a priority for many people when it comes to their beauty goals.  There are a huge array of highlighters and illuminating creams on the market which aim to mimic the ‘lit from within’ dewy look so sought after.  In this blog I will talk about other ways you can help your skin to achieve that highlighted look.

1. Cheek – bone filler. Having high cheekbones is known to make people appear more attractive as the triangle of beauty is defined by a full and wide mid-face.  When light hits the face, those with high cheek-bones instantly have a highlighted appearance and the resulting ‘glow’.  I use hyaluronic acid dermal filler to sculpt the cheeks and to provide more definition in a natural-looking way.  The amount of dermal filler required varies from person to person but on average ranges from 1-2 mls in total.  Numbing cream is first applied, then the skin is cleansed and I mark the areas that are to be treated.  The procedure can take up to 40minutes.  Results are instant and can last up to two years.

2. PRP Facial. PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma.  This is a treatment which utilises your own blood and in particular the platelets within the blood to help rejuvenate your skin.  Platelets contain high concentrations of growth factors and when injected into the skin they stimulate skin cell renewal leading to fresher and brighter-looking skin.  It really does provide that glow which people seek and most people require just one treatment a year.  What is very appealing about this treatment is that it can be considered completely natural using your own growth factors to help regenerate your own skin.  The procedure takes around an hour and results are visible from 3-4 weeks.

The yellow-coloured substance in the picture below is the plasma which contains platelets and it is this part that is injected back into the skin.

3. Skin care. Applying skincare containing antioxidants helps defend against free radicals and stress which can make the skin appear dull.  Look out for skin care containing resveratrol and vitamin C which are two examples of antioxidants.  They also help to prevent lines, wrinkles and sagging caused by pollution in the environment.
