Nasolabial Lines (Nose To Mouth Lines)

This is one of the most commonly requested treatments. These lines run from the sides of the nose to the mouth and occur following repeated smiling. They also develop due to the fat pad in the cheek slipping downwards with age. Treatment with dermal filler provides instant improvement to the lines and also to the shadow that forms there.  Having a shadow in this area can make the face appear tired and look older.  It also takes attention away from other facial features such as the eyes or mouth. Examining where light and shadows occur on the face is just as relevant as wrinkles and folds and removing certain shadows can beautifully enhance an individuals natural beauty.

How is this achieved?

Dermal filler is placed along the crease or shadowing. The hyaluronic acid in the filler has the effect of attracting and retaining water thereby instantly improving the skin’s appearance and texture by restoring its natural plumpness.

Please note you may be advised to have filler placed in your cheeks first as this helps to improve the nose to mouth lines through the lifting effect and also addresses the underlying cause for the nose to mouth lines. When the nose to mouth lines are deeper this is the preferred option especially as it ensures natural looking results.

How long does the treatment take?

45 minutes is allocated to this procedure. Time is spent in the appointment carefully cleaning and disinfecting the skin, for clinical photographs to be taken and to carefully mark the skin. It is very important to never rush a treatment.  Keeping safe and minimising the risk of complications is always the priority.

Does it hurt?

Numbing cream is applied for 15 minutes prior to the procedure and the filler itself also contains a local anaesthetic making this a very well tolerated treatment.

When will I see results?

Results are instant and there is further improvement over a four-week period as the dermal filler integrates into the area injected.  It is important to note that there can be some mild swelling and this can take a few days to settle completely.

How long does the treatment last?

Results usually last 1-2 years in the majority of patients making this a very long-lasting procedure.  Over time the filler gradually breaks down and the result will fade.  At this point the treatment can be repeated.

What are the side-effects?

These are minimal. Swelling is the most common which is usually short-lived. There is also a risk of bruising. Arnica tablets or gel can speed up the healing time.  When working with dermal fillers there are also some very rare complications such as vascular occlusion and this is something which is discussed in detail at your consultation.

Will I need a check-up?

Aftercare is very important to Dr Sabba so a four-week follow-up is arranged for all patients in order to review the final result.

What is the cost?

Treatment with dermal filler starts from £450
